Collard Greens Poriyal
Collard greens are known to be very nutritious and rich in vitamins. This poriyal is a great way to incorporate this healthy green into your meals. Pair it with your favorite rice and curry combination and enjoy!

Ingredients
- 5 cups collard greens (chopped)
- 1½ cup onion (chopped) (around 1 medium onion)
- 3 tbsp moong dhal
- 1 tsp urad dhal
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- 3 red chilies (split in half)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- salt to taste
Instructions
- Remove the thick stem portion of the collard greens. Chop and set aside.
- Wash moong dhal in a bowl and soak in warm water for 15 minutes.
- Now, add oil to a pan. Once hot, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and red chilies to the pan.
- When mustard seeds start to crackle, add chopped onions and sauté for a minute
- Add the chopped collard greens and sauté for 1 minute.
- Next, drain the water from the moong dhal. Add moong dhal to the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes.
- Then, mix in grated coconut and add salt. Mix well and cook for 1 minute.
- Serve hot as a side dish for rice and curry.
