Thuvaram Paruppu (Toor Dhal) Dosa
With no fermentation required, this dosa is easy to make, nutritious and crispy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup idli rice
- 1 cup long grain rice
- 1 cup toor dhal (also known as thuvaram paruppu)
- 1 tsp methi seeds
- 6 dry red chilies (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp fennel seeds
- ¼ tsp asafoetida (also known as hing or perungayam)
- salt to taste
- oil (for making dosas)
Instructions
- Wash and soak rice, toor dhal and methi seeds together for at least 3 hours.
- Drain the water and coarsely grind along with fennel seeds and dry red chilies. The batter should be of pouring consistency.
- Add salt to taste and asafoetida to the batter.
- Heat a dosa pan on medium flame. Once hot, pour a spoon full of batter and spread to make a dosa.
- Add 1 tsp of oil to the dosa and cook. Flip and cook both sides until golden brown.
- Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
