Cabbage Channa Dhal Masala
This healthy and crunchy dish is made by stir frying shredded cabbage with everyday masalas.

shredded cabbage

onion
(chopped)

tomato
(cubed)

channa dhal

curry leaves

turmeric powder

tsp
chili powder

tsp
masala powder

tsp
coriander powder
½
tsp
mustard seeds
¼
tsp
urad dhal
1
pinch
asafoetida
(also known as hing or perungayam)

oil
salt to taste
Instructions
Soak channa dhal in water for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and asafoetida.
Once mustard seeds start to crackle, add onions and curry leaves. Saute for 1 minute.
Then, add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder and masala powder. Mix thoroughly.
Add tomatoes, channa dhal and salt.
Saute for 2-3 minutes. The tomatoes should be soft.
Next, add shredded cabbage and saute for 3-4 minutes. Be careful not to over cook the cabbage.
Serve hot as a side dish.
