Sorakkai (Bottle Gourd) Kootu
Made with bottle gourd, dhal and spices, this kootu pairs best with white rice. A kootu like this one is sure to make your lunch more tastier!

Ingredients

bottle gourd (sorakkai)
(cut into small cubes)

moong dhal

channa dhal

onion

green chilies
(you can use chili powder as a replacement)

turmeric powder

grated coconut
(optional)

oil
salt to taste
For tempering:

tbsp
oil/ghee
½
tsp
cumin seeds

tsp
urad dhal

curry leaves
Instructions
Wash moong dhal and channa dhal. Soak with 1 cup of water for 10 minutes in a pressure cooker.
Add cut sorakkai, onion, green chilies, turmeric powder, oil, water and salt.
Cook for 1 whistle. Release the pressure and add grated coconut, if using. Mix gently.
Add the ingredients under "For tempering" to a small pan. Once the mustard seeds crackle, remove from heat and pour over the kootu.
Serve hot with rice.
