Aloo Gobi Masala

Made from potatoes and cauliflower, this side dish has great texture and is sure to become a comfort food along with any rice, roti or naan.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups potatoes (cubed)
  • 3 cups cauliflower (cut into florets)
  • ½ cup tomato puree
  • ½ cup onion (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Add oil to a pan. When hot, add cumin seeds.
  • When cumin seeds sizzle, add chopped onion and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and saute until raw smell fades.
  • Next, add turmeric powder, chili powder, Kashmiri red chili powder and coriander powder.
  • Saute for 1 minute.
  • Add potatoes and mix well. Place lid over pan and cook potatoes for 5-7 minutes or until half cooked.
  • Add cauliflower florets and mix.
  • Then add tomato puree, garam masala and salt.
  • Cook without lid for 5-7 minutes or until the potatoes and cauliflower are fully cooked. Be careful not to over cook the cauliflower florets.
  • Serve hot as a side dish for roti, naan or rice.
