Course: Main Course, Side Dish
Cuisine: Indian
Servings: 5

Ingredients

  • 5 pieces King fish
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • salt
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

To grind:

  • 1 tsp fennel seeds
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp masala powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Kasimiri red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 2 inch ginger piece (cut into cubes)

Instructions

  • Place the fish on a flat bowl.
  • Add lemon juice and salt to the bowl.
  • Evenly spread turmeric powder on all the pieces. Let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Next, add all ingredients under "To grind:", except the ginger and garlic, into a blender. Grind until a fine powder forms.
  • Then, add ginger and garlic to the blender. Grind into a thick paste. (Add a few drops of water, if needed)
  • Rub the ground mixture on all the fish pieces and let the marinade sit for 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour, heat oil in a frying pan.
  • Once hot, add 1-2 pieces of fish to the frying pan (depends on the size of your fish and frying pan).
  • Fry on medium flame and cook until crisp and golden brown.
  • Now, carefully flip the fish over and cook on the other side.
  • Once the fish is thoroughly cooked, remove the fish from the oil and place it on a plate lined with paper towels.
  • Repeat this process for the remaining fish pieces.
  • Enjoy!
