Thalicha Idli is a quick dish that can be made with leftover idlis. Idlis are cubed and slightly roasted in spices, giving them great texture and flavor.

Ingredients

  • 5 idlis (cubed)
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tsp freshly ground black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp urad dhal
  • 6 curry leaves
  • 2 dry red chilies
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Add oil to a frying pan. Once hot, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and dry red chilies.
  • Once mustard seeds start to crackle, add curry leaves and idli cubes.
  • Gently mix and cook on low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add freshly ground pepper, cumin seeds and salt to taste.
  • Serve hot with chutney or sambar.
