Spicy Shrimp Masala
This Spicy Shrimp Masala is a must try. Sauteed in a dry roasted powder, onions and aromatic spices, this dish is one you won't be able to resist.

Ingredients
- 1 lb deveined shrimp
- 2 cups onion (chopped)
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 15 curry leaves
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp fennel
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 3 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp lemon/lime juice
- salt to taste
For dry roast and grind:
- 1 tbsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
- ½ tbsp cumin seeds
- ½ tbsp fennel seeds
- 1 tbsp coriander seeds
- 5 dry red chilies (adjust to taste)
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 3 cloves
- 1 green cardamom
Instructions
- Dry roast the ingredients under dry roast and grind. Grind into a fine powder and set aside.
- Add oil to a pan. Once hot, add fennel seeds and black pepper.
- When fennel seeds start to sizzle, add chopped onions and saute for 3-4 minutes.
- Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell fades.
- Then, add turmeric powder and the freshly ground masala powder. Mix well.
- Saute and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Add curry leaves and mix.
- Next, add shrimp and saute for 2 minutes. Add salt to taste.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes. Once the shrimp is cooked, it will curl. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.
- Once cooked, remove from heat. Add lemon juice and mix.
- Serve hot with rice, idli, dosa or roti.
